It doesn’t take long for a delicious bag of popcorn to finish popping in the microwave. The smell seems to linger long after the last kernel is eaten up. On occasion though there is that one bag that becomes overly done because the phone rang or the kids needed you for something and you weren’t there to stop the microwave when the popping sound slowed down. Classic Vinegar: It’s amazing what good ol’ vinegar can do by itself. While many of your household cleaning recipes call for vinegar and water, this time you are going to omit the water. Place a sponge in vinegar for about a minute. Once you lift the sponge out of the vinegar, coat the top of the sponge thoroughly with baking soda. Place in the microwave and set it for 30 seconds. Now, using your vinegar and baking soda soaked sponge, wipe down the inside of the microwave and the door. Take out the glass tray and wipe underneath it.
Acetone-Free Nail Polish Remover: Sometimes vinegar doesn’t do the trick. Now, try acetone free nail polish remover. You will need to soak about five cotton balls in the remove and then wipe down the inside of the microwave. Wipe the top and bottom as well as the door with vinegar and water solution to get rid of the remover.

Citrus: Citrus is good for many housecleaning tasks. If you have a smell in your microwave, you would be amazed at how clear it will get when you simply use the power of a couple of orange peelings or lemon peelings. Here’s what you do. After peeling an orange, place the peelings inside of a bowl with 1 1/2 cups of water and microwave for four minutes. Leave it for a little while and then go back and see what it does to the microwave odors.
Vanilla: Vanilla has been a long time go – to for many recipes, including household cleaning. Some people prefer the smell of vanilla over citrus and that is fine. If you want to use vanilla extract, place four tablespoons of it inside a microwave safe bowl and bring it to a boil. Then leave it inside the microwave for thirty minutes. You should be able to wipe down the microwave walls with ease.
Berries: If you want a fruity smell in your kitchen then use berries. Mix it up and use whatever berries you like but place them in a microwave safe bowl and turn it on for 1.5 minutes. The smell of the berries will overcome the burnt popcorn smell within a few minutes.

Baking Soda: Baking soda can do many things in the kitchen, including odor removal. If you still have the smell of burnt popcorn in your microwave, then you can use baking soda. Place an open box inside the microwave and leave it all night long. It will absorb any odors left.
Coffee: Who doesn’t love the smell of coffee lingering throughout the house? Leave this morning’s coffee grounds inside of a bowl in the microwave for about twelve hours. The coffee grounds when wet can absorb the bad odors.
